The much-anticipated arrival of the fully redesigned, third-generation 2022 Nissan Frontier continues a more than 60-year truck history for the brand and marks a milestone as the all-new midsize truck offers many innovative, best-in-class, and class-exclusive features. The 2022 Nissan Frontier’s exterior design stands out as the most noticeable of its many upgrades and enhancements. Nissan achieved a modern yet tough and authentic look for this third-generation Frontier. Designers honored the brand’s longstanding truck tradition with the incorporation of elements inspired by the iconic Nissan Hardbody which earned its rugged reputation as an off-road racer in the 1980s and 1990s.

Starting in front, the 2022 Frontier presents a bold and imposing face that features a mighty grille and sculpted hood highlighted by new precision interlocking headlights. With a wide, high stance, the Frontier stands firm with confidence, accentuated by hefty vertical fenders and high shoulder bodysides. In the rear, the powerful look is completed with structured lamps that seem clamped to the body sides and an overall athletic style that features muscular rear fenders combined with the rear bumper.

What's under the hood?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier’s standard 310-horsepower 3.8-liter direct injection V6 engine leads all others in its class for horsepower. The class-exclusive engine generates 281 lb.-ft. of torque and is matched with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Frontier 4x4 models feature a shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive system with 2WD/4HI/4LO modes operated by an electronically controlled part-time transfer case.

When properly equipped, the 2022 Frontier has a towing capacity of up to 6,720 pounds. Standard Trailer Sway Control is new for 2022 and can automatically apply the brakes if sway is detected for the safest, most secure towing experience.

Is the 2022 Frontier nice on the inside?

The strength imbued by the exterior style of the 2022 Nissan Frontier extends into the cabin which looks attractive, athletic and durable. Adventure gear inspired the aesthetics of the new trim, finishers and meter accents.

The Frontier's bed provides an integral space for a multitude of uses with features that make the job easier, such as the Utili-Track® system that lets you haul whatever you need through the use of three special "C" cross-section rails mounted in the bed and the four fixed bed tie-down hooks that can secure recreational equipment and gear of all shapes and sizes.

A standard feature is the new dampened tailgate assist, which functions while opening and closing the tailgate and makes one-handed loading and unloading a breeze. For the utmost in durability, get the available factory-applied spray-in bedliner. Lighting includes two standard stop lamp lights mounted on the back of the cab and two new available LED cargo bed lights. The 2022 Nissan Frontier offers best-in-class bed under-rail lighting.

A 5-foot bed is standard on all Crew Cab models, with a 6-foot bed available on Crew Cab SV Long Wheelbase models. A 6-foot bed is also standard on all King Cab models.

Does the Frontier have good technology in it?

The 2022 Frontier is the first-ever Nissan to feature Intelligent Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Off-Road Mode. Nissan was the first automaker to offer Around View Monitor, which creates a birds' eye view by stitching together views from four cameras mounted on the outside of the vehicle. The new Off-Road Mode available on Frontier PRO-4X automatically turns the cameras on when the vehicle is in 4LO, which makes the feature perfect to avoid scratches and scrapes on the Frontier while navigating narrow trails.

In addition to the available largest-in-class 9-inch touchscreen and standard largest-in-class 7-inch Advanced Driver Assist Display, get the latest technology so you always stay connected in your 2022 Nissan Frontier. The trims.

The 2022 Frontier King Cab is offered in 4x2 and 4x4 S and SV grades with a 6-foot bed. The 2022 Frontier Crew Cab is available in 4x2 and 4x4 S, SV SWB (standard bed) and SV LWB (long bed), along with the Crew Cab PRO-4X (4x4 only) and new-for-2022 PRO-X (4x2 only). All Crew Cab models feature a 5-foot bed except the SV LWB model, which features a 6-foot bed.
